In conveying his designs to a wider audience, architect John Soane was brilliantly served by the evocative architectural draftsmanship of Joseph Michael Gandy, who produced this view of Soane’s seminal Bank Stock Office, with its Piranesian lighting and freedom in adapting classical structure and ornament to modern uses.
